Hole burning in back pocket!
Hey guys just got paid the other day got about 315$ to blow (I'm only 15 so don't hate). As of now I just have the basis necessities of playing. I tend to hop on the band wagon. Right now I wanna buy a new gun possibly a used mini. Or a new sphere fenix which would mean I need a electric hopper.
For clothing I want a full blown jersey but with no fields within an hour, what's the poInt? A minute later I wanna buy full camo suite with a harness an all.
I get caught up an want a new mask an electric hopper.
Should I really buy any of this? I always wanna be the best at everything I do.

Buy yourself a good mask first, If you have a high end mask it will help you out more then one that will fog and hinder your play. Then look for an easy maintenance gun that suits your playing style.

mask> tank> hopper> pack> gun
Thats the pattern I usually tell people to buy when they look for stuff. Gun upgrade should always be last, because who knows how long your going to be in the game for. For clothing. You really don't need paintball specific jerseys, I do fine with mesh shirts from Wal-mart. Though they do get fuzzy after wearing things that have a lot of velcro.
I wouldn't say go overboard like I did when It comes to a vest or harness (gear weighs an estimated 40Lbs). But when it comes down to it. Its all up to you. If you like speedball style looks or be it Milsim. Go for it.

A pack shouldnt be high on your concerns until you know what type of marker/playstyle your going to be doing for sure. Seems like it could potentially be a waste of money.
Re: Hole burning in back pocket!
True enough, I meant this while still renting field gear of course. If your a person with out a lot of cash to blow, there buying bits and bits here and there. I don't mean an expensive pack by the way. Just something you can experiment with or add to your other gear. Like one of those 2-100pod holders. I still use them along with my other gear. Can't ever have enough paintball pods, and not have somewhere to put them.

If you're getting a speedball gun or really anything that you're going to be shooting fast I'd say buy an electric hopper, as for a mask buy THERMAL lens, some shops will try to substitute you an anti-fog for thermal but trust me it's not the same, always go with thermals.

not sure of US prices, but i agree that goggles come first - but only if the field your going to play at lets you use them. i dont let customers use ANY of their own kit unless its a walk on day. why not save your cash till you can afford a full kit (including a reliable marker) and then you'll get full use out of your purchase:D

If i walked in with i4's and you said nope you have to wear this scrungy rental mask that tons of people have used i would walk out. (i know you wash them... i hope atleast)
if someone has their own pair of goggles designed for paintball let them use them just dont change the price, its less cleaning for you and a happy customer who doesnt have to wear a used mask.
Re: Hole burning in back pocket!
lol .. i know where your comming from ... but i'm looking at it from an insurance point of view! if you wear mine and god forbid the googles fail you, you are deffinetly covered if yours failed the insurance might want to know. its never happened so its all hyperthetical...
if your field lets you wear your own kit on normal days then as i said before, i agree that goggles are the most personal peice of kit, so buy the best you can afford!

as long as they are certified your insurance will cover it, especially if they sign waivers.
Re: Hole burning in back pocket!
For staters I love Minis they are fast a overall fun guns to shoot, but i must warn you be careful when buying used. Just like you I dont live near any paintball arenas (not an hour away, but still kinda far) one thing I bought that I love is a used scuba tank and fill adapter (140 bucks) this aloud me to shoot around and practice even when I wasn't at the field. The next thing I got was 100 reballs off of ebay. These 2 purchases should be done after you have your gun, hopper, tank and mask. As some people are saying above about how masks are the most important thing, I disagree. They are important don't get me wrong and you should get one that fits and that provides protection, but you don't need to go and spend an extra 80-90 bucks on one. This is just MY opinion so people don't hate.

masks are the most important piece of equipment. Think about it for a second. What are you required to use the most out of all your equipment? Your mask, if you arent comfortable in your mask it will be hell! imagine playing in a large scenario game. your hands numb from holding your marker.... the mask you bought for $30 is making your face feel like itching powder is on it.... your fogged to the nines. I would rather spend the extra $80 and be comfortable have a solid set of goggles and not fog then cheap out and have my games ruined by inconvienences. screw fogging and itching!
Re: Hole burning in back pocket!
i learned my lesson the hard way went from walmart goggles to profilers to i4's and never looking back
Re: Hole burning in back pocket!
LOL! never been to a walmart store, but have been told the quality of sports kit isnt too clever, that right?
Re: Hole burning in back pocket!
Ya the only things I buy at Walmart are pods, battle squeegees, and cheap paint.

Haha alright. I have a paintball store real close by, but it's pretty bad. Just 98's. Haha. I just fill my air and paint there.
