Proffesional paintball

Long story short ever since I held a marker I've wanted to be a proffesional (sorry for my bad spelling) so can anybody tell me how I would go about getting there? I know it's not an overnight thing trust me, but it would help emensly if anybody could tell me some of the stepping stones to that level.

i guess the way to get started is to get noticed by your field - possibly playing speed ball and get sponsored by them and progress from there. any achievements you win (placings in comps and tournys) that get a little local press coverage pass them on to large companies. they're always looking for ways to promote. i know its noy quite as simple as that and you'll have to work hard and spend a lot of your own (or parents) cash to start with,but go for it!

Put some videos up online of you playing and send them to paintball companies that are willing to sponsor. Zephyr paintball has links on their page on sponsorships. And also make a NPPA ID, so it's easier to sign up for some NPPL tourneys.

Zyncler, there are tones of teams in Ontario in the Cxbl. It may be slightly late, but I am sure there are still teams in the CX4 Division that could still use a couple players. Cx4 is basically a rookie league in the cxbl, but its a good place to start. Basically from there just go and give it your all, teams in the upper levels of the cxbl will see you play at these events and may ask you to come try out. There is other ways to go, such as getting on a team that does nppl and psp events, but thats more expensive.

It sounds like a long grind, but if you have the time, effort, and funding, go for it by all means. My main advice would be to grind your way through the CXBL divisions first and see what happens.

Alright, thanks alot bud! I'm more then willing to put everything I have into it, as I said ever since I held a gun I knew that's what I was going to do haha. Is there a website or something for Cx4 that I might be able to go to to get more information?

Not going to lie you are in for a long grueling task. First there has to be the natural ability for playing. Next would be the task of realizing to get better you have to play all types of paintball, but that speedball is where most of our professional players are at.

Next you have to be crazy committed to your physical conditioning. You cannot play to a professional caliber if you aren't capable of keeping up with them.

Start small! Get a team together and start at a low level league. Everyone has to start somewhere. ALWAYS play like you have something to prove. Even if your team is always getting smashed at the events you could shine as a player to other teams who will snag you. I know i got picked up after my first event with my original team.


Be prepared to spend more money. My gear bag retail is worth more then both of my vehicles. not combined.... Paint isnt cheap when you're shooting 10 cases per xball match! Plus practicing 2+ times a week is hard on paint money.


Play with people who are way better then you! They will teach you things, making you a better player! If you can practice with the pros, i know after one practice with Impact and Echo my game greatly improved.


Be aggressive make smart choices, be an ambassador for the game

Dedication and ability isn't an issue, 'n the long journey will make it all the better when I'm there hehe. I'm not in the best shape, I can run like hell and all that jazz but I'm not in perfect condition, any tips for that? Thanks for the help man!

get a membership to a gym and go every other day if you have the time

thats what i do i go every other day to let my musles relax the day i dont go. lift some weights run on the tredmile it takes time but once you get into the habit its not really hard

Speed Agility & Quickness SAQ is the key. you don't really need a gym for this. there are lots you can do yourself. search SAQ for ideas. if you struggle, i'll sort you some SAQ drills out (Qualified SAQ deliverer)

That would be amazing if you could do that for me man! I'm not really good at all with workout plans or anything of the sort haha, I tried before in grade 11 and it failed miserably.

As you workout just think about the final outcome. You are working out for paintball. You are working out so you can play professional paintball. Think that conditioning is just a small obstacle in your journey to professional paintball. You just need a positive mind-set.

Honestly, I wouldn't even worry about a gym membership. The best thing would be to buy some light weights and do high reps, Jog, Pushups (increase incline of feet for a challenge), sit ups and Lots of Yoga. Paintball is a full body sport, I can't count the amount of times I come home afterwards completely sore and unwilling to do anything. If you do yoga you will be flexible and relaxed which is a good thing .

bsmith yoga is a very good idea i have never even thought of that i play football and i guess i go to tthe gym so much that when some one asks they want to get into better shape i always answer that im a little bit of a gym rat...

Yep, and what do you shoot?

I was only wearing the t-shirt around my neck because it was cold as hell haha, that's actually an old picture, man it's gonna be hard to not wear the cowboy hat, it's been on my head since my first time paintballing haha. Also at the moment I shoot a Dangerous Power G3, I'm looking for a better gun though just because of the bolt stick issue.

Never thought of Yoga... thats a good idea, you need to have relaxed controled breathing whilst shooting and i guess yoga will help with that ... oh and being fit!!
