Of course, the Tippmann 98 custom is one of the most popular paintball markers out there. It is reliable, durable, and very customizable. But is it worth it? Yes and no. First off, in order to customize the marker itself you must be willing pump lots of money into the upgrades. With the money your putting into customization, you could easily just buy a better electronic marker. But don't get me wrong, if you are looking for a WOODSBALL only marker that you can make your own, this is a good choice. Next, where it is supposed to be reliable, it sometimes lacks. Mine was bought with a screwed up ASA regulator. It was shooting at 350-400 fps and could not be adjusted. Because of this I had to spend 40 dollars on a whole new regulator. Although it definitely not common, there is a very small chance that it could happen to you too. Mechanically, it is VERY durable. It can be dropped in the mud, fallen on, etc. and still just need a slight cleaning after. The marker is also difficult to assemble and disassemble, which is something to consider. The great thing about Tippmann is their life long warranty. Overall- 7.5/10

Pros-
Durable
Rarely chops paint
Customizable
Life long warranty
Clamping feed neck
Simple mechanics

Cons-
Loud
Hard to clean
Specific to woodsball and woodsball only
Heavy

7.5/10

I know a guy who used to wash his 98 in a dish washer.

You Don't need to upgrade this gun out of the box its a preference thing if you do. Your reg being screwed was a factory defect you should have just sent it back and gotten free repair work
